The Kinross Section covers an area of approximately 150 square miles taking in the community council areas of Glenfarg, Milnathort, Portmoak, Fossoway, Cleish & Blairadam and Kinross. The latest population estimate for the area is about 12,000. Officers from Kinross police 15 miles of the M90 motorway and also a National Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Loch Leven. The section borders both Fife and Central Scotland Police area and excellent co-operation is received from both forces to deal with the problem of travelling criminals making use of the transport links that can quickly get them into the national motorway network. Undoubtedly the most significant event each year in the section is the "T in the Park" rock festival held on the site at Balado. Significant assistance is required from throughout the force and beyond to police the event which has become an established part of the summer in Kinross.
