Section 23 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 requires that all Scottish public authorities maintain a publication scheme setting out the types of information that the authority routinely makes available.

In recognition of the need for consistency in compliance, the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland developed a Model Publication Scheme for use by Chief Constables in Scotland. This scheme has been approved under Section 24(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 by the Scottish Information Commissioner, who is responsible for enforcing FOISA.

Information pro-actively published by Tayside Police is available via the menu on the right.

In recognition of abbreviations used in the Police Service an A-Z glossary is also available.

Tayside Police view the Publication Scheme as a positive opportunity to respond to the public interest in information held by the Force. In meeting its obligations under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, Tayside Police is mindful of the values and principles of openness and transparency.

In order to keep the scheme as inclusive as possible, the scheme will be reviewed from time to time.
